Smart Way to Think About Computers

Smart Way to Think About Computers

Last week, a smart man named Jim Chanos talked about computers. He knows a lot about money and how people buy parts of companies, called stocks. He said something important about new, smart computers called AI.

AI is like a computer brain that can learn and think. To make AI work, we need big buildings called data centers. These buildings are full of powerful computers. Many people want to give their money to help build these data centers right now.

But Mr. Chanos said maybe that is not the best idea. He thinks people should give their money to the companies that are building the smart AI brains themselves. The companies that build the AI models are the real thinkers. The data center buildings are more like regular buildings you own. The smart thinking part is more special.

He talked about a company named CoreWeave that runs data centers. Even though many people are excited about it, Mr. Chanos said we should look carefully. Is the company making enough money? Sometimes when everyone gets very excited, they forget to check the facts.

His idea is simple: if you think AI is smart, you should support the smart thinkers who create it, not just the buildings that hold the computers. It is always good to think carefully before you decide where to put your money!
