A Special Friendship Across the Ocean

A woman named Kelly has a very special friend. They met at an airport three years ago. That was a long time before today! Her friend lives very far away in a place called Europe. Kelly lives in the United States. A big ocean is between them.

It is hard to live so far from someone you care about. Kelly and her friend cannot play together every day. But they found smart ways to stay close! They talk to each other every day. They send messages with words and pictures on their phones. This is called texting. Sometimes, they send voice messages. Kelly loves to hear her friend’s voice in the morning.

The best way they talk is by video call. A video call lets them see each other’s faces on a screen. It makes them feel happy and close. Sometimes, it is tricky because when Kelly is awake, her friend is sleeping. They have to pick just the right time to call.

They also try to visit each other. They get on airplanes to meet in person. A hug in real life is the best feeling! They do not get to visit all the time, but they are always planning the next trip. They are very patient and know that one day, they will live closer.

Even though it is not easy, their friendship is strong. They use technology to share their days and their love. They show that with kindness and good talking, you can be close to someone, even from far away.
