Earlier this year, in the month of March, something amazing happened for our planet. Leaders from many countries around the world came together and agreed to create a brand new kind of park. But this isn’t a park with swings and slides. This park is in the middle of the Atlantic Ocean! It’s called a Marine Protected Area, and it’s a safe zone for ocean life.

The new protected area is located in a part of the Atlantic Ocean between the United States and Europe. It’s a huge, deep underwater region known as the “Mid-Atlantic Ridge.” Imagine a massive, winding mountain range, but completely underwater! This area is full of incredible creatures that don’t live anywhere else on Earth.
